Transforming Mierscourt Primary School’s Outdoor Space

The courtyard area at Mierscourt Primary School had become unsafe due to subsidence and wear. This space, once filled with laughter, was no longer fit for the children to use. Recognising the need for action, KD Traffic initiated the project, rallying support from other local companies to make the renovation possible.

While the location of the site - away from major highways - meant minimal traffic management was required, our role went beyond barriers and signage. This was about giving back. We provided pedestrian barriers to secure the site and took the lead in coordinating efforts, managing timelines, and offering financial support.

Collaborating with trusted partners Kingsheath Construction and Drivetech Construction, we ensured the project stayed on schedule and delivered exceptional results. Kingsheath Construction’s dedicated community initiative team stepped up to assist, bringing their expertise and passion to the project. Together, we overcame challenges, from coordinating volunteers to managing the unpredictable British summer weather that slowed the concrete setting process.

The results were truly rewarding. The unsafe and unusable patio was transformed into a bright, inviting outdoor space that the children can now enjoy. By contributing our expertise and rallying local support, the school was able to allocate its resources to essential provisions while still achieving a much-needed renovation.

The project not only improved the school environment but also celebrated the dedication of our team. Kyle Jones, who drove the initiative, was even honoured with a plaque at the school that read, “Not all heroes wear capes – Kyle Jones 2024.”
